1928 Spanish Mediterranean
Hillsborough, CA
Originally built in 1928, this remarkable residence in Hillsborough showcases the timeless Spanish Mediterranean architecture that defines many of the area’s historic estates. Designed for a family of six and their large extended family, the home was thoughtfully reimagined to balance grand-scale entertaining with comfortable everyday living. At the center of the home is a spacious kitchen designed to gather family and friends with ease, opening to expansive terraces that seamlessly extend the entertaining spaces outdoors for large celebrations and relaxed indoor-outdoor living. The original living room was carefully restored to honor the home’s architectural heritage, including the design of a custom fireplace mantel featuring the client’s family crest — a deeply personal detail that makes the home truly one of a kind. Throughout the interiors, comfortable, family-friendly fabrics were layered alongside curated Italian and Spanish antiques, creating spaces that feel collected, timeless, and full of character. The result is a stunning home that honors its historic roots while offering warmth, beauty, and functionality for modern family life.
