Hyde Street Victorian
San Francisco, CA
Perched atop iconic Hyde Street where the cable cars climb the city’s historic hills, this classic Victorian has remained in the same local Italian family for generations. Having survived the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the home carried with it layers of history — including treasured relics uncovered within the foundation and walls during construction, offering a rare glimpse into its past. The remodel thoughtfully balanced preservation with modern living, restoring the home’s original architectural character while seamlessly integrating updated kitchens, bathrooms, and contemporary conveniences. Reworking the floor plan by opening the wall between the kitchen and formal dining room transformed the flow of the home, creating a more functional and inviting space for entertaining. The result is a timeless restoration that honors the spirit and history of the home while adapting it beautifully for the next generation of family living.
